Sunday 3 June, 4pm: St Andrew’s Church, Yetminster. The Ferial Singers with organ music played by Ken Sherring, directed by John Mathew. A delightful afternoon concert of music for the seasons of the liturgical year, with pieces by Rutter, Purcell,Stainer, Archer, Britten, J. S. Bach and others. Free entry with retiring collection.Refreshments will be served.Further information from John Summers.

Glanvilles Wootton Fete, Church Farm, DT9 5QE. Saturday 9 June, 1-4pm. Another fun filled programme including flower festival, photography competition, Gillingham Imperial Silver Band, barbecue, Pimm’s, teas, dog show and more.

St Andrew’s Church, Yetminster: Saturday 16 June, 3 – 6pm. Church tea party and a chance to climb the tower for sensational views. This is a fundraising event to raise money for the restoration works.

Benefice Outing to Wells Cathedral: Thursday 28 June. Join us on this wonderful lay initiative to visit one of the finest buildings in England. Places on the trip will cost £18.60 per person, to include the coach fare and a discounted group tour of the cathedral. An optional tour of the Bishop’s Palace and Gardens will be available after lunch at a cost of £6.95 per person. The coach will leave Thornford Village Hall at 9.15 am and we aim to be back by approximately 5pm. Refreshments will be available to purchase at the cathedral café and the Bishop’s Palace, or you may wish to bring your own packed lunch.Places are limited and bookings need to be made (with payment) by 7 June. Community breakfast at the Village Hall, Glanvilles Wootton: Saturday 19 May, 9 - 11am. Breakfast is £5 (under 10s free with a full price adult breakfast). There will be an optional free countryside walk, starting at 8.30am in the hall car park, lasting about 1-1.5 hours. Prepare for stiles and mud. At 7.30pm on Thursday 10 May (Ascension Day) at Ryme Intrinseca church, the noted neo-modernist artist, André Durand will unveil a magnificent new oil painting of the resurrection, as imagined on the cliff tops of Dorset. The artist will give a short talk about this highly original and thought provoking work, which will be followed by a reflection on the painting’s resurrection themes by John Summers. Drinks will be served. All are welcome at this free event which promises to be very exciting. For more details about André, search his name online. Hilfield Friary: Public Opening of the Secret Garden (part of the National Gardens Scheme), Sunday 6 May. Entry is £5 with tea and refreshments available. Stout shoes are recommended for exploring this wonderful garden. Almost 30 years ago Brother Vincent began his work of transformation of a hidden scrap of ancient woodland. With much dedication and love he turned it into a hidden gem, a refuge of quiet and beauty: Small paths and bridges lead you along and across many streams. Several benches along the paths invite you to sit and relax – allowing your soul to be touched and nourished by nature.

St Hippolytus’ Church, Ryme Intrinseca continues to collect all clean/wearable clothes, bags, belts, hats & shoes (tied together please). There is a series of weekly meditative Eucharists for Lent, each Wednesday at 11am, in Yetminster church, ending on Wednesday 28 March. Join us for simple, reflective worship focusing on Lenten themes. Further details from John Summers. Morning prayer (BCP) is also being said in Yetminster church during Lent, at 9am, Monday to Thursday.

Lent Talks: The Things Jesus Said. These have been offered at two locations this year. Either at Thornford Primary School: Thursdays inLent at 7.30pm, or Holwell Rectory: Tuesdays in Lent at 7.30pm. All are very welcome.
